RE: the title being misleading
Although "criticism" does have some negative connotations, one of it's definitions is "a serious examination and judgment of something". So in this respect, the title is accurate -- i.e. it is a serious examination of the question of violence.
Or perhaps the author meant to be misleading, so that dogmatic pacifists wouldn't just be like "Oh my Dogma! A pamphlet promoting violence? I'm not going to read that!"
