Excerpts From: Kill or Get Killed by Col. Rex Applegate
Self-Defense for Radicals
This book was first written in 1943 to quickly and effectively teach American solders hand-to-hand combat skills. It was re-published in 1976 to train the Army and police for dealing with the "Professional Communist agitator" and "fifth columnists who would stir up dissension and incite disorders and riots."
The shortened zine focuses on the close-combat techniques, such as strikes, blocks, holds and 'come-alongs.' The scrappy reader may recall being on the receiving end of there methods. The full book has more information on topics like "Prisoner Handling," Raids," "Training Techniques and Combat Ranges," and "Communist Tactics ans Strategy in Directing Mob Violence," if one is interested.
The universal usage of male pronouns to describe the comatants should be regarded as glaring grammatical errors. And he's kind of racist, too. Just warnin' you.
For best results, practice regularly with a buddy or affinity group.
