(en) Anarkismo.net: Koreas, ongoing conflict and belligerence incomplete by Bruno Lima Rocha (pt) [machine translation]

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 11:16
The conflict between the two Koreas is a stay of the Cold War period that remain in the present day, to leave the intersection in two arenas simultaneously, the northern half must continue pressing Seoul and Washington. ---- By completing sixtieth anniversary of the end of the Korean War, the longest conflict the planet has exceeded the period of bipolarity as a landmark permanent Cold War in Asia. The Korean peninsula is the area of â âgreatest concentration of troops professionals in the world and lives in a state of war, with a level of high alert since the split into two countries. In this context, both companies were recreated within a logic of urban modernization. For the northern half of the warfighting capability is essential as deterrent factor of a war of conquest of the South and the consequent liquidation of the regime and, consequently, this model of society. ...

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 11:12

(en) Ireland, wsm.ie: CAHWT in a trap? - Reviews from 2013 Anarchist Bookfair

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 10:58
The talk on the Campaign Against Home and Water Taxes (CAHWT) at the Anarchist Bookfair 2013 in the Main Hall was relatively sombre in tone to say the least. The echoing clamour of the Main Hall only served to highlight the strange impasse which the campaign has found itself in of late. The assembled survivors could have fitted easily into Room 2, which was packed to capacity by speakers on issues which would seemingly be less of a political immediacy. ---- Guest review by Ciara ---- The speakers Alan and Kevin focused mainly on the recent failures as opposed to the triumphs of the campaign which had by this stage lost significant momentum after a promising zenith around April 2012. Within local campaign groups, the speakers emphasised the need to encourage people to take ownership instead of relying on more experienced leader figures to determine the direction of the ...

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 09:02
Bristol was awash with a sea of red black flags today as anarchists, radicals and trade unionists took to the streets for May Day. Five hundred people descended on College Green for a march and rally organised by Bristol Trades Council to commemorate International Workerâs Day (May1st). A large Radical Block made up of members of Bristol Anarchist Federation, Solidarity Federation, IWW and other revolutionaries numbering around 50 were present from the beginning handing out leaflets about the true origin of May Day. http://bristol1stofmay.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/history-of-may-day/ As the march began the Radical Block took position near the front of the procession. The demonstration snaked out of College Green and down Park Street towards the Fountains as chants rung out from the block. There were some old favourites in there as well as a few new ones including a ...

Saturday, February 16, 2000 we were more militants, association members, shoppers or simply Lyon people to demonstrate in Lyon against fascist violence, call the Collective Vigilance against the extreme right. In recent years, increasing social misery generated by the capitalist system benefits the development of the various movements of the extreme right. In Lyon, it is crystallizing around the small group identity, which in their local area of ââVieux Lyon since 2011. This presence in the city center has created a climate of fear among the inhabitants and shopping district, who suffer repeated attacks. Multiple beatings by their members or supporters against foreigners, leftist or queers can not be counted. ...

(en) Irish Anarchist Review #7 - Brazilian anarchism interview on the Crisis, World Cup, Especifismo by Paul Bowman

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 07:58
In a wide ranging interview Paul Bowman talked to Felipe CorrÃa (FC) a Brazilian anarchist who is member of OrganizaÃÃo Anarquista Socialismo LibertÃrio [Libertarian Socialist Anarchist Organization] (OASL) about anarchist orgainising in Brasil, just how global the crisis really is and the forthcoming World Cup. ---- IAR: First of all could you tell us a little about yourself and your involvement with Brazilian anarchism and how you came to be involved? ---- FC: I became an anarchist in the end of the 1990s, in the wave of what people used to call the âanti- globalization movementâ, after a past of Marxist affinities, both with reformists and revolutionaries. I knew about anarchism in the âcounter-culturalâ movement â ie. ...

(de) FAU DIREKTE AKTION #216 – Zeit der Manifeste

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 07:58

For two years, a move to requisition buildings developed on Toulouse: Campaign for the requisition, mutual and self (Crea). The goal is to requisition empty buildings, abandoned or subject to property speculation. ---- We're up-group [ 1 ] with all those who want to participate: ill-housed, are, left to the street by the State and capitalism families, people who can not pay their rent , people who are fed up with this system, supportive people. ---- In a previous paper [ 2 ], we talked about the expulsion of a large self-managed social center, leaving the street about 200 people. Since we moved es in Bonnefoy, a popular area that is the target of an urban renewal project. Indeed, with the advent of high-speed line between Toulouse and Bordeaux, the area behind the station will gradually evolve into business district. ...

Tue, 05/07/2013 - 11:34

More than 1.7 million people waiting for social housing that does not come [ 2 ]. ---- Housing has become the first item of expenditure of households (22% of revenue on average, 50% for some), the price of existing homes has increased 2.5 times between 1996 and 2011 and rents rose faster than income. Soaring prices now impacts the middle classes, indebted tenants or owners. ---- The quality of the habitat is degraded and a third of residents in France live in a habitat with a major flaw: pierced roof, ...

(pt) Revista anarquista Aurora Obreira #26 - Nem direita, nem esquerda, anarquia sempre! (en)

Tue, 05/07/2013 - 11:24
