Why Are Union Reps Called Union Bosses?
pBy Yves Engler - May 3rd, 2013/p
p...[P]erhaps the epithet “union boss” is not really aimed at the presidents, secretary-treasurers or other heads of unions at all. Rather, it is an insult aimed at all workers, who these right-wing minions think are too stupid to participate in the democratic process of choosing a leader...These yes men of the super rich cannot conceive of workers running their own organizations. When you make your living as a toady you have a hard time imagining anyone else thinking for him or herself./p

May Day 2013: Fragile Economies, Aggressive Bosses and Struggling Workers
pBy Ingo Schmidt - May 1, 2013/p
pAusterity is the only policy game in town at this point in the core capitalist countries. But it has growing doubters amongst ruling elites and is deeply resented by the working classes. In the zones of severe crisis, the free market ideology is losing even more credibility...An upsurge in right-wing populism in many countries...is one of the expressions of the deep crisis of legitimacy that is befalling neoliberal capitalism in the midst of continuing economic crisis and another sharpening of economic inequalities./p

All Time Top Ten: Episode 68 - Top Ten Classic Hard Rock Albums w/Nick Baker, Segment 1
From the late 60's to the very early 90's, hard rock was more than just a genre of music, it was a way of life for millions of dudes and chicks all around the world. Two such dudes - host Ben Eisen and special guest Nick Baker to be exact - fell in love with hard rock in their youth and still hold a candle (or a lighter) for the glory days of guitarists who specialized in heavy riffs and high-flying solos, drummers that split eardrums with their pounding beats, and lead singers who could scream and wail as well as they could sing. Not coincidentally, the classic hard rock era fell in the exact same timeline as the classic album era, which means not only are these albums some of the finest of the genre, they're also in the running for the greatest albums of all time. Throw up your devil horns and rock out with us. m/
Nick Baker is the guitarist and co-writer for Russian-born singer-songwriter Marina V. Their music can be heard here:

Off The Hour / En Profondeur Podcast: Off The Hour : report on MayDay demo arrests in Montreal with the CLAC and CUTV, Segment 1
On Mayday 2013 in Montreal, the Anti-Capitalist demo was declaired illegal half-hour after it started. The police then proceeded to kettle and arrest in total 447 people. The arrested were held until 3 a.m. for some, released in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere.
Emma Smith, member of the CLAC (Covergence des Luttes Anti-Capitalistes) who organized the protest, explains the circumstances of the demo and how the police used P-6 to deliver the famous 637$ tickets.
Then William Ray, Michelle Moore and Cures Riches, respectively producer, reporter and technician for CUTV, Concordia's University campus community television, explain how they were detained and arrested and question the role of media in the whole P6 case.

If you’re in a crowd and you’re surrounded by police in riot gear, you get defensive./i”/p
